A new liturgical year is upon us, which begins with the season of Advent. We may find it difficult to be joyfully expectant amidst such great uncertainty. The realities of the pandemic have added stress and often emotional anguish to many among us, particularly those on the front lines, and those who may feel isolated. Jesus does not turn a blind eye to our suffering; he calls us to draw near to him so that we can experience his peace in our trials. We must be ready and willing to tend to the needs of others as we are able as apostles of mercy, and accompany each other during this time of pandemic, never forgetting those most in need.
